A gift card can be exactly the right gift. Sometimes you still want a little handmade something around it.
Make a small buttoned envelope with your choice of two fronts: a flower-centered granny design in cream, olive and dusty mauve, or a textured spike-stitch design. Each front has its own numbered instructions. Both use the same envelope assembly and a double-faced flap, with a patterned outside and a solid mauve inside.
The 34-page illustrated pattern walks through stitches, color changes, shaping, joining and finishing. Choose one front, follow its working sequence, then continue to the shared back and flap. Aim for an approximately 4-inch square body and check the fit with your own gift card before placing the button.
Use worsted-weight cotton yarn, a 4 mm hook as a starting point, a small button and basic sewing tools. The pattern explains how to compare the pieces and adjust hook size while preserving matching stitch counts. US crochet terms.
Digital crochet pattern, not a finished envelope. Gift card, yarn and supplies are not included. Downloads include the illustrated PDF and a ZIP containing the PDF, editable Word document and getting-started note.
The original preview shows the flower-granny option. The spike-stitch option has a different front texture and is not pictured in that preview.
