A cardigan can be useful and still carry a little evidence of the hands that made it.
The Returning Lines Cardigan is worked from the neckline down as an open-front raglan. Olive half double crochet is finished with deep-brown post-rib cuffs and hem, plus a narrower single-crochet back-loop-only front and neck band. After blocking, five cream U-shaped surface-crochet paths add the returning-line detail: one on each front, one on the back and one on each sleeve.
Inside the pattern:
- Six measurement-based main-fabric width plans, approximately 36.3–62.9 inches before bands. These are not finished closed-bust measurements; choose your front opening and check the fit.
- Flat and round gauge checks, yoke counts, raglan separation, body-only underarm expansion and tapered sleeves.
- Post-rib cuffs and hem, measured band pickups, line-placement guidance, fit checkpoints and care.
- US crochet terminology. Intermediate or adventurous confident beginner.

Digital crochet instructions only. No finished cardigan, yarn, hooks or other supplies are included. The preview is a labeled generated design concept, not a photograph of a worked sample. Physical sample testing is not claimed; swatch and use the measurement and fit checks as you work.
